Packaging specification and compliance evidence management

A packaging component affects more than purchasing. Materials, declarations, labels, food-contact suitability and the products using it all need a consistent record.

Packaging decisions have downstream effects

One bag, carton, label or liner may be linked to several finished products. A supplier, composition or artwork change can affect those products and the supporting declarations. Managing each file independently makes review slow and prone to omissions.

SupplySpec connects packaging records, specifications, suppliers, documents and change requests so the appropriate team can assess the impact.

Maintain market-specific evidence

Regulation (EU) 2025/40 on packaging and packaging waste generally applies from 12 August 2026, with different dates and rules applying to individual provisions. Its food-contact packaging PFAS limits began applying from that date subject to the legislation's conditions.

Exporters should assess applicable requirements and collect material-specific evidence. SupplySpec can organise the declarations, market applicability and review trail, but does not make legal determinations or replace testing and supplier verification.

  • Component specifications and approved revisions
  • Supplier declarations and supporting reports
  • Expiry or review dates and owner
  • Affected products and market records

Keep the label aligned with the product

Ingredient and packaging changes can affect mandatory food label information, including allergens. Controlled product specifications and artwork approvals should form one review process rather than separate email chains.

General information only. SupplySpec supports documentation, record control and review workflows. It does not provide legal advice, independent certification or a guarantee of regulatory compliance.
